Smoking has become an anti-social, life threatening behavior to health that is claiming the lives of too many people.  In the 1940's, the movies began to promote smoking as cool.  For example, images of Humphrey Bogart with a cigarette are common, and who could imagine Humphrey not being cool?  James Dean in the 50's continued the cool image until the 1970's when the dangers of cigarette smoking started to surface.  However, it was still dangerous and exciting to light up secretly with peers at school.  Little did we know when we were teenagers what harm we were doing to our health.

I am an ex-smoker myself.  I smoked Marlborough's (the red packet) for about 15 years, at least one pack a day (sometimes two if it was a social evening out).  It has been over 10 years since I had a cigarette now, and I am so glad that those days are behind me.  When I was a smoker, I was never really aware of how horrible my clothes and hair smelled, but I didn't like the smoke getting in my face even then.  Finally, I developed a smoker's cough that made me sound like I was going to burst a lung.

I can help you to become an ex-smoker!

That was then.  Now I smell smoke from 20 paces.  People that I meet who are smokers, some of them dear friends, have the worst breath, stinking like a soggy old ashtray.  Stale cigarettes linger in clothing, furniture, and even in the walls, but I have not become one of those awful people who preach no-smoking at every opportunity.  If I can help anyone to improve their health and life in general by kicking this habit, then I will pull out all the stops to do so.

I offer a couple of different approaches for the client who wishes to stop smoking.  One approach is to withdraw progressively from cigarettes, much like doctors reduce doses for patients who wish to get off addictive medication.  This course of action takes several weeks, depending on how much you smoke.  Each week you will reduce the amount of cigarettes that you smoke, and you will learn coping mechanisms to replace the smoking habit.  A personalized CD is included in this program so that you have the ability to work on becoming an ex-smoker daily.

If your cigarette habit is quite low and you have already made headway in reducing the amount you smoke, it is possible that you would benefit from the one-stop smoking session.  Included in this program is a follow-up session and a personally recorded CD, which will reinforce the session.

It is important to note that whichever program seems better for you - you have to want to stop smoking!

Questions to ask yourself before you come for hypnosis:
  • Why do you want to stop smoking?

  • Do you really want to stop?

  • How many cigarettes do you smoke each day?

  • Do you smoke them all the way down?

  • When do you smoke?

  • What are your triggers?

  • What do you like about smoking?

  • What do you dislike about smoking?

  • Do you have any fears about stopping smoking?

What one of my clients said:

Karin Hall-Willis is a phenomenal hypnotherapist!

For the last 33 years, I have tried and failed at virtually every method to quit smoking: willpower, the gum, the lozenges, the filters, ear shock therapy (ouch!), acupressure, meditation, prescription medication, etc. All of these methods were unpleasant. Ms. Hall-Willis's hypnotherapy is just that--therapy--you feel GREAT afterwards.

However, after my first session with Ms. Hall-Willis, I did not smoke for about week to ten days. I went from a pack to a pack-and-a-half a day to no cigarettes.

When I started back up again, I found that I could not smoke more than half a cigarette and could smoke no more than half a pack a day. In my second session, Ms. Hall-Willis led me to discover that I was actually in conflict over quitting. She gave me ways to resolve the conflict, manage my stress levels, reinforce my desire to quit smoking, and still enjoy being around friends who do smoke. She also made me a CD that I can play at anytime to reinforce my being a non-smoker.

I am now a non-smoker after 33 years of being a smoker--thanks to Karin Hall-Willis.
